The park was created to preserve the mountain’s historical significance during the American Revolutionary War.
The park’s attractions include:
- Crowders Mountain Trail System – A network of trails for hiking and running that traverses the entire mountain. The trail system contains several loops of varying length, difficulty, and elevation gain/loss.
- Hiking – There are numerous hiking trails throughout Crowders Mountain State Park, including several loops.
- Camping – There are over 100 campsites at Crowders Mountain State Park.
- Picnicking – There are several picnic areas at Crowders Mountain State Park, most of which have shelters with tables and grills, and restrooms nearby.
- Swimming – There is a swimming area at Crowders Mountain State Park open from mid-May to mid-August. The pool has a maximum depth of three feet (1 meter) and is located near the park’s recreation building; it also has an area for children.
- Boating – There is a boat ramp at Crowders Mountain State Park where boats with motors up to 10 horsepower are allowed; there are no fees for launching or parking.
- Fishing – Crowders Mountain State Park has numerous creeks and lakes that provide quality fishing opportunities throughout the year, including largemouth bass and crappie.
