CIT
Can a camper be a CIT if he's 17?
Yes, we receive 17-year-old campers who want to do the CIT program.
What is the cabin distribution like?
The CIT has its own cabin with campers aged 15 and 16 and 2 counselor per cabin. There is a cabin for female CITs and another for male CITs, and they do the activities together.
What are the regular activities of a CIT like?
They do the regular activities of the camp; Wakeboard, Water Ski, Ropes, Paintball, Survival, etc., but are trained in each of the activities at greater depth. They support other guides in the cabin order and are assigned special activities. They also receive teamwork training and leadership and are invited to guide meetings during the season.
Do CITs have a special discount?
Yes, CITs have a 15% discount on the full price and can register on any date and keep their discount.
Can CITs carry cell phones?
Guaikinima is a perfect space for Digital Detox!!! It is therefore not allowed to bring any electronic devices. If Campers bring cell phones we will keep them and return them on the last day of camp.

The minimum number of days per week at the Day Camp is 3 days.
Steps to sign up for the 3-day option:
- Add the week you want in the system and complete the registration by making the deposit payment of $100 per camper

We offer family menu for the taste of adults and children. Pasta Station, Burgers, American Breakfast, Grilled Chicken and White Rice and Taco Station. Nuggets option for the little ones.

Children aged 2 and 3 years must always be supervised and accompanied by their parents or representatives in the activities. Children 4 and older can go with the counselor and group of children to activities without parents.
If two families are staying in the same cabin, does the price vary?
No, the price is per person not per cabin.
Do they include linen?
No, everyone should bring their bedding and sleeping bags or blanket.
Can two families be accommodated in the same cabin?
Yes, as long as they are not more than 12 people in total.
What are the accommodations like?
Accommodations: they will rest in a beautiful and comfortable pine cabin with air conditioning or heating (depending on the weather) with internal bathroom, bunk beds and capacity for 12 people.

We have our sleepaway program with activities for boys and girls between 6 and 17 years old oriented to having fun and to be in contact with nature where the child can discover the natural scenery while learning new skills in addition to the values and philosophy of Guaikinima.

How many counselors per child?
If there are 20 to 24 children there will be 3 counselors. If there are 10 children, there will be 2 counselors.
Do you offer cake and food?
No, we work with an allied caterer. We refer them to you so they can send you a quote for their services.
Do you take care of the decoration?
We work with an ally in decoration that offers: table decoration, balloons, centerpieces, back drops, themed designs, etc. We refer them to you so they can send you a quote for their services.
Is the party in Spanish or can it be in English?
You can choose in Spanish or English. Our guides are bilingual.
How do you book the party?
We send a proposal via email that you must approve and pay 50% in advance. The rest to be paid on the day of the party through any of the camp's payment options. Venmo, Zelle.
Do you have an age limit?
No, Guaikinima can do activities for any age.
Do you have rooms or halls for parties?
NO, we adapt to the customer's place. Whether it is a garden in your house, or a park. Preferably an outdoor place. Yes, if the customer wants we can make park suggestions.
What kind of activities do you offer?
Guaikinima offers a lot of camping games for birthdays, for example; “It” in pairs, the star, burnt football, two lines and a handkerchief, water channel, chain “It”, blind gunman, river, etc. They will be adapted to the ages of the guests. We also offer special activities such as, swimming pool, paint war, bow and arrow, campfire, kayak, camping.
What's the minimum number of hours?
The minimum is 2 hours in order to integrate the guests to the different activities and ensure a minimum time for the counselors to move to the location of the party.
Leadership Workshop
Do participants receive a Certification?
They receive a certificate of attendance to the workshop, which is valid for your Resume or as support for applying to Colleges or Universities.
What activities do you do in these workshops?
- At the ABC they receive experiential learning training, communication, teamwork, fear management, conflict resolution and leadership.
- In the Leadership in Action Intensive Workshop, you can experience a group dynamic with the children at the Day Camp. They train alongside an experienced counselor how to manage a group of campers and how to teach an activity. They will carry out the activity assigned to them, exercising leadership with others, reporting to directors.
- The Leadership in Action Immersive Workshop trains with a group of counselors in the sleepaway, learning how to teach activities to campers, to lead games, to support the team of counselors in the development of the program. Supporting in the order of cabins, at lunchtime, attends guide meetings. You will carry out the activity assigned to you, exercising leadership with others, reporting to directors.
Where are these workshops held?
- The ABC workshop is held in a Miami park; it can be at the Markham, CB Smith, Oleta Park or Virginia Key.
- The Leadership In Action Intensive Workshop takes place in the summer at our Oleta River Park venue, at our Day Camp Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5:30 pm.
- The Leadership in Action Immersive Workshop takes place in the summer at our sleepaway headquarters in Pierce, FL or Inglis, FL. Participants stay in cabins with the Guaikinima staff, and must bring all the camper's equipment listed.
With this workshop, can my child be a camp counselor?
This workshop is not necessarily valid as training to be selected as a camp counselor in one of our seasons. However, the camp director can select a young man who did the workshop to attend guide training before the season and, if selected, can be hired to work in the summer and be part of the counselor staff of Guaikinima.
What ages can participate?
The workshop is aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 18.
Sleepaway Program
What are the closest airports to Camp Guaikinima Sleepaway?
Other than tuition and registration fees, what additional expenses can I anticipate?
- Uniforms: New camper uniform costs vary depending on individual preferences but on average cost approximately $70.
- Summer Expenses (OPTIONAL) Additional optional expenses may include, but are not limited to, camp store purchases, transportation from Camp to Weston FL, airport transportation.
What is the camper's Code of Conduct?
- The use of any form of tobacco products, alcohol, or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited at Camp Guaikinima and will result in the immediate dismissal without a refund. Camp maintains a zero - tolerance policy in relation to this behavior.
- Any parent/legal guardian that wishes their camper(s) to leave camp property with someone other than themselves must provide permission in writing in advance of the pick-up date. Camp will NOT permit a camper to leave property with someone other than the parent/legal guardian without this permission on file in the camp office.
- Campers will be present at all scheduled activities and will remain in supervised areas at all times.
- Cabins are private and open to only the campers that live in that cabin. Campers will not enter a cabin other than their own without the permission of the counselors that live in that cabin. Co-ed visitations are strictly prohibited.
- Leaving cabins after lights-out in the evening is prohibited except in the event of medical necessity. Any camper found outside of their cabin after lights out will result in appropriate disciplinary action or, if necessary, the immediate dismissal from camp without refund.
- Physical and/or verbal hostilities are not permitted while at Guaikinima Camp. Campers will respect all other campers, counselors, administrators and camp staff.
- Sexual harassment, verbal sexual harassment, or sexual contact of any kind is inappropriate to the community and will not be tolerated. Offenders face possible legal action and immediate dismissal from camp without refund.
- Camp Guaikinima is not responsible for valuables kept in cabins. Money, plane tickets, passports, and other valuables must be kept in the office at the start of camp. Campers must respect the property of others, any damage to or theft of Guaikinima property is not allowed and will be charged to the camper’s family.
- It is imperative that all activities rules be understood and followed by everyone. Rules will be explained and/or posted in appropriate locations.
- Weapons, knives, matches, fireworks, and other potentially dangerous items are prohibited at camp and will be confiscated and will result in the immediate dismissal from camp without a refund.
- All medications, prescription or non-prescriptions (including aspirin) must be kept in the Health Center at all times. There are few exceptions such as asthma inhalers, Epi kits, etc. If not sure, ask us. At registration, all medications should be turned over to our Doctor.
- Respect for all living things is expected. Wildlife, camp animals, and the natural environment are to be protected. Destructive behavior is not permitted and will result in appropriate disciplinary actions or dismissal.
- Each member of the camp community is expected to contribute to keeping the cabins and camp property clean and maintained. Graffiti or any other form of vandalism is strictly prohibited and the cost of repairing such damage will be charged to the camper’s family.
- Campers are not permitted to bring cellular phones to camp and are asked to leave them home. Cell Phones found in the cabins will be confiscated, stored at the office and returned to parents. Please call the office for details.
- Campers can maintain regular prescription medication as required by their medical professional while at camp sessions. Please do not stop your children's medication while at camp . We have a full-time nurse here to administer medication.

If for any circumstances I cannot attend the reserved season, could I change it? or is there some kind of penalty? Is the money refundable?
CANCELLATION / REFUNDS
A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 per session per camper is required at the time of registration. The tuition payments are fully refundable up until June 1st, 2024. Tuition is not refundable if parents withdraw a child after June 1st, 2024; shorten a session during the summer season due to illness, homesickness; or if a camper is asked to leave due to a violation of the behavior code. No partial refunds will be given after June 1st, 2024, for shortened sessions. Registration and tuition is not refundable due to travel restrictions for international families enrolled after May 1st, 2024.
Payment for all sessions is due in full by June 1st 2024.
If you are unable to attend for any reason, you may have someone substitute for your participation in the program. Call our office at (954) 654-0395 at least 30 days prior to the event to transfer your enrollment. A $75 fee will apply. If you are unable to attend and do not wish to transfer your spot. We will convert your enrollment to a non-refundable Guaikinima Sleepaway voucher which must be used the following year.
- Tuition includes laundry and medications regularly carried in our Infirmary.
- Tuition does not include linens and transportation from camp (which is optional and billed separately).
- Out-of-camp medical services and special prescriptions are not included in the tuition, and will be charged to the credit card on file at time an expense is incurred.
- Every family is required to have a credit card on file. Out of camp expenses (i.e. prescriptions, special birthday requests, shipping charges) will be charged to the credit card at the time costs are incurred.
NOTE: In regards to situations beyond our control, such as but not limited to pandemics, natural disasters, etc:
If Camp Guaikinima can not go forward due to a government mandate or our own decision, we reserve the right to maintain or modify our current cancellation policy accordingly with previous notification to our registered families.
Camp Guaikinima reserves the right to change the start and/or end dates of the Summer sessions in accordance with the indications of the local authorities in regards to the development of any situation beyond our control.
Will my child sleep alone or accompanied? With children of the same age and gender?
Campers will sleep with their group in comfortable air-conditioned cabins, accommodations are for 12 campers and two counselors for each cabin. Groups are separated by age and gender. Cabins with the smaller children will be assigned additional counselors.
How does the transportation to and from the camp work?
Transportation to the camp is included in the camp price. Campers depart by bus from Weston, FL.
For the return we invite the parents to pick the campers up, so they have the opportunity to share some of their experiences in the magic of Guaikinima with their relatives. For those who cannot go to the camp, we can coordinate return transportation; you can select this option in the registration process.
What if my child has a special diet?
We have a balanced menu which we can adapt for special regimens for allergies, diets or eating habits. Allergies are treated with great care by the kitchen staff under the supervision of our Doc. If your camper requires a special diet it is important to specify it on health form.
What are the cabins like?
Our facilities have 10 comfortable cabins with air conditioning, and bunk beds; accommodations are for 12 campers and two counselors for each cabin.
Is there a two-week plan for the first season?
The 2-week plan is only for Season 2.
What's the camp menu? (sleepaway stay)
Guaikinima's menu is balanced and our Chef prepares the best dishes, offering: fruits, cereals, yogurt, arepas, pancakes, scrambled eggs, empanadas, grilled chicken, rice, vegetables, salads, tacos, pasta, hamburgers, pizzas, roast beef, mashed potatoes and much more!!!
Can children carry their cell phones?
Guaikinima is a perfect space for Digital Detox!!! It is therefore not allowed to bring any electronic devices. If Campers bring cell phones we will keep them and return them on the last day of camp.
Can we call our kids to the camp?
You can call Amäy (our camp mom) anytime. She will be able to inform you how he/she has adapted, if he/she is doing the activities, etc. Communication with campers will be through letters, you can send them correspondence and they will respond.
What if a camper has treatment during camp?
If a camper has a medical treatment during the season, our nurse will be in charge of administering the treatment as directed by the doctor. They must specify the details on the health form and deliver the medicines on the day they leave for camp.
What if a camper gets sick?
In the sleepaway if a camper gets sick, the counselor or Amay takes them to the infirmary, there the nurse performs a checkup and seeks to detect what the discomfort is, when having a diagnosis she communicates with the parents, according to the health form authorized medications are administered and his recovery is monitored until he can return to his activities. Amäy (the camp mom) will be in constant communication with parents to keep them informed.

What kind of food do you serve in the camps?
In the camp we serve a full menu in the 3 daily meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner in our self-service dining room. It includes fruits, salads, protein and balanced carbohydrates. How many times a day do children eat in the camp?
In the camp we have 3 daily meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner, in addition to a snack in the morning and another in the afternoon.
What if my children have a special diet?
If any camper has a special diet, we coordinate with AMAY and the doctor of the camp, that the kitchen has an option that fits the camper's requirements. This should inform the camp at least 1 month in advance to coordinate. You can talk by phone with our office (9546540395) and also include it in the health form.
Are snacks allowed in the camp?
In the camp the children have snack and hydration twice a day every day. In the morning they are fruits and in the afternoon salty or sweet snacks, with refreshing drinks lemonade type. For this reason it is not necessary to send more Snacks.
How old must my children be to enroll them in the SleepAway Program?
Guaikinima Sleepaway is a 2 to 3 week program for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 16 located one hour from Orlando and departs by bus from Weston, FL.

Can children under 3 years of age do the activities?
Children aged 2 and 3 years must always be supervised and accompanied by their parents or representatives in the activities. Children 4 and older can go with the counselor and group of children to activities without parents.
If two families are staying in the same cabin, does the price vary?
No, the price is per person not per cabin.
Do they include linen?
No, everyone should bring their bedding and sleeping bags or blanket.
Can two families be accommodated in the same cabin?
Yes, as long as they are not more than 12 people in total.
What are the accommodations like?
Accommodations: they will rest in a beautiful and comfortable pine cabin with air conditioning or heating (depending on the weather) with internal bathroom, bunk beds and capacity for 12 people.
How many counselors per child?
If there are 20 to 24 children there will be 3 counselors. If there are 10 children, there will be 2 counselors.
Do you offer cake and food?
No, we work with an allied caterer. We refer them to you so they can send you a quote for their services.
Do you take care of the decoration?
We work with an ally in decoration that offers: table decoration, balloons, centerpieces, back drops, themed designs, etc. We refer them to you so they can send you a quote for their services.
Is the party in Spanish or can it be in English?
You can choose in Spanish or English. Our guides are bilingual.
How do you book the party?
We send a proposal via email that you must approve and pay 50% in advance. The rest to be paid on the day of the party through any of the camp's payment options. Venmo, Zelle.
Do you have an age limit?
No, Guaikinima can do activities for any age.
Do you have rooms or halls for parties?
NO, we adapt to the customer's place. Whether it is a garden in your house, or a park. Preferably an outdoor place. Yes, if the customer wants we can make park suggestions.
What kind of activities do you offer?
Guaikinima offers a lot of camping games for birthdays, for example; “It” in pairs, the star, burnt football, two lines and a handkerchief, water channel, chain “It”, blind gunman, river, etc. They will be adapted to the ages of the guests. We also offer special activities such as, swimming pool, paint war, bow and arrow, campfire, kayak, camping.
What's the minimum number of hours?
The minimum is 2 hours in order to integrate the guests to the different activities and ensure a minimum time for the counselors to move to the location of the party.
Can a camper be a CIT if he's 17?
Yes, we receive 17-year-old campers who want to do the CIT program.
What is the cabin distribution like?
The CIT has its own cabin with campers aged 15 and 16 and 2 counselor per cabin. There is a cabin for female CITs and another for male CITs, and they do the activities together.
What are the regular activities of a CIT like?
They do the regular activities of the camp; Wakeboard, Water Ski, Ropes, Paintball, Survival, etc., but are trained in each of the activities at greater depth. They support other guides in the cabin order and are assigned special activities. They also receive teamwork training and leadership and are invited to guide meetings during the season.
Do CITs have a special discount?
Yes, CITs have a 15% discount on the full price and can register on any date and keep their discount.
Can CITs carry cell phones?
Guaikinima is a perfect space for Digital Detox!!! It is therefore not allowed to bring any electronic devices. If Campers bring cell phones we will keep them and return them on the last day of camp.
