DAY 1 – Nov 20
Departing from Phoenix AZ airport, set the GPS to our first accommodation in Flagstaff AZ, drive safe and enjoy the change of scenery on the road. You will see the environments change as you gain almost 6000 feet of elevation. When you see that last saguaro cactus disappear as you come over the rise near sunset point, you will find yourself on the high plateau. Then as you begin the descent into the Verde Valley you’ll see the snow capped San Francisco peaks above Flagstaff in the distance and the red rocks of Sedona in the foreground. You will arrive at your “home away from home” A stunning space that sleeps up to 14! Perfect to enjoy the beautiful outdoors that Flagstaff is famous for.
Upon arrival our Guides will help everyone to accommodate in their rooms and then head to the outdoors for fun games. Dinner will be served for self service, and we’ll end the day with a fire pit and s’mores.
DAY 2 – Nov 21
A boosting breakfast will be served self service, to give us full energy for our first hike: Cathedral Rock Trail, Arriving at Cathedral Rock Trail, our guides will give the group all the instructions about the hike; length of the trail, what to bring, safety precautions, etc.
The hike will be 3.7 miles round trip, and it takes about 1.5 hours to get to the top. Cathedral Rock Trail offers great views of the naturally occurring rock formations in the heart of red rock country. Due to its incredible scenery and short distance, this is an extremely popular option for hikers of all ages. Either you get to the top or stay somewhere in the middle, you can simply admire the red rock formations almost 360 degrees and take a picture of this adventure. We will meet at the trailhead to set GPS to a beautiful picnic area to have lunch and rest. After lunch we´ll go on a super fun adventure tour with friendly and helpful guides. Get on an ATV with the family and go off road trails with incredible adventures and sightseeing. After this awesome experience, we´ll get back to our Home away from home at Flagstaff, to relax and have a nice dinner.
DAY 3 – Nov 22
Enjoy a fresh breakfast at the house and then get ready to depart to the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, with its layered bands of red rock revealing millions of years of geological history. We will visit the South Rim, take a short walk to Mather Point, the most popular viewpoint, to get great views of the Grand Canyon. From there we will visit the Grand Canyon Village. This historic village has excellent shopping for all the hiking and camping gear you need, as well as authentic American Indian crafts and plenty of canyon souvenirs. The village also has restaurant options and a top-rated walking tour.
One of the best ways to experience the Grand Canyon is to go below the rim. There are two trails that start near the Grand Canyon Village, the Bright Angel Trail and the South Kaibab Trail.
Lunch will be packed in each one’s backpack in the parking lot and every family group will find a spot to have lunch on the trail at the Grand Canyon. At the end of the visit we will head to another viewpoint of the grand canyon, there the guides will set up some games for the group to enjoy, then we will head back to our home in Flagstaff for a relaxing evening and a nice dinner.
DAY 4 – Nov 23
Enjoy a fresh breakfast at the house and then get ready to depart to Antelope Canyon (2:12 h from Flagstaff). Antelope Canyon is a breathtakingly beautiful slot canyon near Page, Arizona. A visit here is a bucket list destination for many people. This is Navajo tribal land and can only be accessed with a Navajo guide. We will visit the Lower Antelope Canyon, the tour will take us through this sandstone slot canyon, narrow passages, smooth curves, and warm tones. It will be fun and adventurous because there are ladders to climb and narrow sections to squeeze through. It takes an hour once the tour starts. After the Antelope Canyon tour we will go to visit Horseshoe Bend, a 15 minute drive. Horseshoe Bend is where the Colorado River makes a giant sweeping horseshoe shaped bend in the canyon. It’s a picturesque perspective and you get a wide panoramic view of it. Once we get to the parking lot, it’s an easy 15 min walk to the viewpoint. The path led up and over a hill before snaking back downhill towards the canyon. It’s not a particularly long walk, but with no shade, on hot days a bottle of water would be useful. It will take from 30 to 60 minutes to visit HorseShoe Bend, then we will have lunch at Wahweap Picnic Area – Glen Canyon – 16 minutes. While we enjoy the stunning 360-views of Lake Powell, the guides will set up a couple of games with the kids before we head home. This night parents will go out for dinner at a fine restaurant in page https://www.rimviewterrace.com/ and there will be Pizza night at home for the kids with the guides. Best plan!!!! For everybody!!! Lol.
DAY 5 – Nov 24
Monument Valley – We will depart from our home in Flagstaff to Monument Valley for a 3 hour drive, visit the park, go horseback riding, and get back at the end of the day.
Located on the Utah-Arizona border, Monument Valley is part of the Colorado Plateau. It is not officially a National Park since it sits within the Navajo Nation Reservation.
Monument Valley is a wide, flat landscape interrupted by colorful red buttes and spires rising hundreds of feet into the air. These are the last remnants of the sedimentary rock layers that once covered the entire region. Monument Valley is contained entirely within the Navajo reservation, occupying both Utah and Arizona. This is one of the most remarkable, beautiful and famous landscapes in the world, early recognized by Hollywood as a stunning background for western films. As we will get around in a van the guides will be sharing some interesting information about the history and culture of the Navajos and the monuments we will be seeing. Also we will do a 3.2 mile loop hike that circles around the Mitten Buttes and Merrick Butte, and finally those who want to go for a horseback riding at Monument Valley, can do so for a 1 hour tour with the Navajo guides. We will find a spot in the park to have lunch .
